At Secured Futures, our mission is to support minors and adults with disabilities, ensuring their needs-based government benefits are maintained and safeguarding their financial future. One of our most recent success stories is that of Jose, a beneficiary of our Pooled Special Needs Trust services. 

Meet Jose  

Jose, a 24-year-old vibrant young man, has been a client of Secured Futures since January 2019. Born with hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and a seizure disorder, Jose requires 24-hour supervision and assistance with daily activities. Despite these challenges, his spirit remains unbroken, and his smile, as seen in the photos from his recent trip to Disneyland, is a testament to his joy and resilience. 

Jose’s Journey with Secured Futures

Jose’s journey with us began following a settlement from an undisclosed issue with the Carson City School District. The funds from this settlement were used to open a Pooled Special Needs Trust, enabling us to provide Jose with the resources he needs while maintaining his government benefits and helping to manage his money. Through the trust, we have been able to purchase a mobile home and a vehicle to aid in his transportation needs, significantly improving his family’s day-to-day living conditions. 

Jose’s family, who are his primary caregivers, have guardianship and are intimately involved in his care. They use a True Link card provided by the trust to purchase necessary items for Jose, ensuring he has everything he needs. 

A Dream Come True: The Disneyland Trip 

One of the most heartwarming ways we’ve been able to support Jose is by making his dream of visiting Disneyland come true. The trust covered the expenses for Jose and a companion, in this case, his father, to embark on a magical journey to the happiest place on earth. While we cannot cover the costs for the entire family, we ensure that the beneficiary and a necessary companion for care are taken care of. 

This trip was more than just a vacation; it was an opportunity for Jose to experience joy and wonder beyond his everyday life. Seeing the enchantment in his eyes as he met his favorite characters and enjoyed the attractions was a moment of pure magic, not just for Jose, but for everyone involved in making this trip possible.

Our relationship with Jose and his family is built on trust and mutual respect. As a Spanish-speaking family, they work closely with Janina, one of our dedicated team members who ensures their needs are met and their voices are heard. This strong partnership allows us to provide personalized care and support, tailored to their unique needs. 

Jose’s story is a shining example of what we strive to achieve at Secured Futures. By managing his Pooled Special Needs Trust, we have not only helped safeguard his financial future but also created unforgettable memories.
